The Louisiana Tuition Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) is a state-funded program that provides scholarships to Louisiana residents who attend college in Louisiana. TOPS awards are based on a student’s high school GPA and ACT score. To be eligible for TOPS, students must be Louisiana residents who have graduated from a Louisiana high school or obtained a GED in Louisiana. Students must also be enrolled full-time in a Louisiana college or university and maintain a certain GPA.
TOPS offers several different scholarship amounts, depending on a student’s high school GPA and ACT score. The maximum TOPS award is $4,000 per year for up to four years. TOPS also offers a “TOP UP” award for students who attend college in certain high-demand fields. The TOP UP award can provide an additional $2,000 per year for up to four years.
